Aliya Sharma is a first-year doctoral researcher in the Power and Energy Systems group at Aalto University, working within the MSCA FITNESS program (DC5). She holds a master’s degree in Electrical Power Engineering from Kathmandu University, Nepal. Her thesis modelled Nepal’s entire power system to assess its static operational power security, identifying overloaded components, locating vulnerabilities, and suggesting ways to improve it in the near future.

Her doctoral research focuses on formulating integrated energy community systems to enhance distribution grid flexibility, with a particular interest in defining indices and partitioning approaches for forming efficient energy communities.
